In San Francisco, during the Gold Rush era around the year 1850, Levi Strauss, the son of a simple huckster from Upper Franconia in Germany, becomes one of the first ever tycoons, by paving the

way for blue jeans, despite corrupt competitors and harrowing personal suffering. But this success story would not have been possible without him: Jacob Davis, a Jewish tailor from Riga.

The series, completely set in 19th-century San Francisco, was shot entirely in Italy, between Piedmont and Alto Adige. Viola Film was in charge of the executive production of the series in Italy. Filming was completed in November 2023.
